NESTORE partner invited for a lecture on Exercise Prescription for older adults

The 11th EFSMA European Congress of Sports Medicine represents a very important moment for Europe, both at scientific and at cultural level, being a unique occasion to exchange and share knowledge and experiences among physicians and stakeholders. Next 3-5 October 2019, Simone Porcelli, MD PhD at the National Research Council of Italy was invited to give a lecture about Exercise Prescription for older adults.

During this edition, discussion will be focused on the importance of exercise prescription for health as prevention and therapy strategy. The congress will be multidisciplinary and very useful not only for all sports medicine physicians who follow athletes in their everyday practice, but also for pediatricians, general practitioners and all other medical specialists who believe that physical activity is the basis and the future for a proper physical and mental development and treatment of wide range of chronic non-communicable diseases, as well as for physiotherapists, kinesiologists and sport scientist.

Simone's presentation will focus on the importance of exercise prescription for healthy older adults, highlighting the role of the right amount of exercise for everyone as fundamental method to improve the quality of life.

The general approach utilized by NESTORE system will be presented to let the audience understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach that covers nutrition, physical activity, cognitive and social domains. More specifically, he will describe how the innovative personalized coaching system utilized by NESTORE takes into consideration international recognized guidelines for exercise prescription within the four subdomains (cardiorespiratory fitness, strength, flexibility and balance) and how decision support system takes into consideration everyday life activities to individualized coaching activities for physical activity domain.
