A preliminary market analysis: identifying the context in which NESTORE is evolving

A stream of activities of NESTORE focuses on the development and validation of NESTORE ecosystem and on the definition of an exploitation strategy. Preliminary activities aimed at depicting an overview of the context in which the project evolves through the analysis of older adults' profiles and preferences and potential competitors. The analysis considers the NESTORE features that have been developed during the project first year.

The analysis of older adults' profiles and preferences is based on both the findings of a desk analysis and an online survey. The analysis of potential competitors has been performed - so far - only through a desk analysis that is intended to be - in the future - complemented by direct interviews.

As far as potential users of the NESTORE solutions are concerned, results from the analysis are contributing to the preliminary identification of possible business models for the exploitation of the project outputs. Thus the team focused on socio-demographic, health and literacy characteristics of potential users of NESTORE and gave priority to a set of countries from different European regions: Italy (pilot site in NESTORE), Spain (pilot site), the Netherlands (pilot site), Austria, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, the United Kingdom.

Competition has been analysed along different perspectives: Digitalization (i.e. use of digital technologies) and Personalization (i.e. tailoring coaching activities). Existing virtual coaching competitors have been classified in a two-level matrix according to two characteristics: Target users (i.e. group of consumers in the predetermined target market; healthy citizens and chronic patients) and Dimensions (i.e. dimensions addressed in relation to the five NESTORE dimensions or type of chronic disease addressed; mono and multi).
